Duffy is Dead is a mournful, funny, warm comedy of Irish low-life, lovingly set among the streets, shops, pubs and people of London's East End.News of the sudden demise of a friend and fellow countryman, outside a bank in the Holloway Road, rouses Calnan, veteran licensee of the Trade Winds, Dalston, from his nightmares in the early hours of a damp November morning. Calnan's discreet efforts to ensure a decent funeral for Duffy are to cost him more than he bargained for, and lift the lid off a tantalizing mystery.
