A memoir of life in small town Ireland from the 60's to the moment of end-of -life told in flashback by two voices -
One the Mother, Siobhán who suffered with Alzheimers for a decade and who recalls nostalgia and social archive - the other voice being the heartbroken narrator .the eponymous "scourge" who documents the implosion of the family dynamic with brutal honesty, the hospitals and nursing homes, and ultimately its redemption, through acceptance and release.
